For this project, I wanted to expand on my blender knowledge. In the previous project, I experimented with textures, materials, lighting, and colors with my mini-room model and I know I just barely scratched the surface. I began researching about nodes and what all of the different blocks meant and how you connect them and what their properties are. To test all of this on I decided to create an abstract shape using the shape presets under the shape selection key. I picked the torus shape and messed around with its vertices and angles to create an orb-like shape that spirals into itself. I tested out nodes like Wave Texture, Texture Coordinate, Shaders, Glossy BSDF, and Emissions to create something that resembles a piece of taffy being pulled at a candy factory. Once I was happy with my materials I decided to take it to the next level and animate it. Along the lines, something happened and I might've made it too complicated because when I tried to render it said the process would be completed in 14 hours. Unfortunately, I didn't have the computer power or the time to be able to produce a final video but the orb is supposed to hover and spin around on its X and Y axis. Since the animation wouldn't render, I just chose to take a screen recording of what it's supposed to do but since the materials are so complicated I had to use the blank shape to show the movement so it wouldn't overload my computer. I really enjoyed using this project as a space to explore and try out new things. I think it was very successful in my learning process of blender since I got to try a whole new side of blender I didn't know existed.
(P.S. It wouldn't let me upload any of the screen recording videos to this blog post so I sent them to you through email. Sorry!)
